And now the moment everyone's been waiting for. Everyone heard how I was making a new dress. It is part of my Russian garb for SCA, but quite nice either way. It isn't hemmed yet, so forgive me looking squat in it because it is really too long on me. It will fall better once I have it hemmed, too.

I did the whole dress in one day. I was a little bored. =D

With zapona (A kind of apron of sorts (also unfinished)):

And, for tonight, that is all I have to share.

Okay, for today I have some more Russian period garb that I worked on. I could use people's advice on what to use for a trim. I was thinking just something plain, but in any case... here are the newer items:

This is the full navershnik, and rubakha that I made. The navershnik (t-tunic/over dress) is made out of a table cloth I found at the salvation army that had a very soft and comfortable weave.

This is a svita (coat). I'm still not finished with the svita and this is my first attempt at making one. I used just a bunch of measurements and cut it to size, but this is basically what the svita will look like. I need frog closures for the top and a very thick but simple black belt, I think. I also want to get some fur for the lining/trim. I'll get to that soon, I hope. This was made out of a couch cover.

This is basically the full outfit with the addition of the straw hat and head covering for working outside.

This is the first zapona I made. The zapona is much like an apron, just draping over the shoulders and held together only by a belt around the waist. Very easy to make, but this one is a little too short and I'm just not happy with it. But it was my first attempt.

This is a panova, which is kind of like a different type of apron. I just used scrap fabric to make this one. It is basically three panels of fabric that are sewn to a cloth belt and tied about the waist. It is usually worn undeneath either a navershnik or panova. I don't have pictures of it like that, though.

Well, that is all the Russian garb for right now. I'm going to work on making a dress out of t-shirts tomorrow. Any thoughts or comments greatly appreciated.

For Christmas, I would be ever so excited and happy to get one, or both, of these gorgeous hats (i need something to base my designs off of when I start making them anyway) in the color of red.
