A little worried

arathreelI've been feeling sore in my jaw lately. Almost like it is bruised, but I can't think why it would be bruised at all. I haven't been hit in the jaw. Lately. That episode was a long while ago. Suffice to day, I have this strange feeling and I have had it for a week now.
So I'm sitting here tonight, pressing on this area of my jaw, basically back near my throat underneath the mandible. Chris looks at it... it has no bruising discoloration. So I keep rubbing at it and comparing it with the other side.
...that is when I felt this small little lump. It is right near the bone and extremely painful in a pressure sensitive way. It isn't a stabbing pain, but more like a sitting on a nerve funny kind of pain. And it hurts when I turn my head to the left and down because then my muscles put the same pressure on it. It isn't excruciatingly painful, just kind of a "hrm, this feels bruised and sore" kind of painful.
I don't know if I should be worried, but I am. I think I will call my doctor on my lunch break tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment for Monday. It would be nice, at least. Maybe it is just silly and I don't need to worry, but I've never had a palpable lump like this before. Firm, non-mobile. It worries me a little. Maybe I can aspirate it at work and take a look.
