It was really awesome hanging out with people until 2:30am last night. I love our friends.

We bought the tree last night and set it up to see what the cats think. Mishka thought the low branches were fun for the batting at. Lexi just couldn't fathom why the inside suddenly came indoors. And they both enjoy the cushion-like tree skirt we bought and sleeping under the tree. But so far, no problems. So today we get to decorate and put on the lights. That pleases me. hopefully we also get to clean the house a bit because it is a mess.

We don't have a tree topper. People kept offering us angels that glow or move or starts that glow and play music. None of them are really... us, you know? So we decided on something cooler. We decided that we were going to make Banjo the clown our tree topper. I'm going out today to get all the materials I need. I'm thinking of making Order of the Stick Christmas ornaments while I'm at it. It would be awesome.

While out today, I'm also stopping at The Spinning Room. This pleases me as I simply just want another ashwood spindle or two, one that fits my machine so I can properly spin some other stuff. We will see what happens, though.

And the whole reason we are going out today? We are taking a look at the house. And I really want to thank everyone for chiming in on different problems a 120 year old house would have and even ones this one in particular would have. We have so many great friends who would be willing to help us out with some more simple upgradeable tasks, but I am still under the notion that if it will cost us a lot to fix it up so it is properly able to be lived in, we should wait and perhaps we will find another house that pleases us. I informed Chris that there are some aspects that are no big deal to me: needing to update the bathroom so it doesn't look like it is from the 50's, getting rid of wallpaper, re-buffing the wood floors, tearing up carpet. This is all cosmetic things we can do when we are moved in and have the time and energy to do them. It is the other things that are more difficult: re-insulating the walls, fixing the wiring or plumbing, putting on a new roof, buying a new furnace/boiler or trying to update the heat in general. We have a list of things we will talk to the dealer about, but I definitely have my limits and know when I will put my foot down, no matter how much I might like the house otherwise.

Chris keeps saying we can get someplace smaller. Have a starter home. Live there for five years. I told him that never happens. We are in our starter home right now. Since we are renting a house, we know we wont live here forever because we want to own. But I'm not moving into a house I can't see me living in for at least 20-30 years. We might not be able to move out for a long time.

I know I have many friends that might be able to watch houses more easily than I can, so I will list some of the things we are looking for. If you know of a place that has any of these things, let us know. We would love to take a look.

We need a huge kitchen. The kitchen is the number one most important room in the house. Second would be a good sized bathroom. The rest we can work with. We want three bedrooms at the least. Four would be ideal. We would love love LOVE a finished basement, but we can also work on that ourselves. If not a basement, then at least a living room and a family room. We want kids, so we want an adult play room and a kids play room. I'm really into having a front porch. It can be three season, but I still love them. We want land with the house. A backyard, front yard, and hopefully enough side yard that I can't see what my neighbors are watching on TV. And I don't want to share a wall with anyone. No town house/two family crap. We aren't too fond about living near water. Don't want a waterside view or a pool in my backyard. Living near a stream is fine (and fun!) or having a small pond. Garage isn't necessary, but a bonus. Detached, preferably. Being able to have an archery range in my back yard = huge bonus.

I'm sure there are probably other little things, but these are the things we are mainly looking at.
